Troubleshooting
Solutions to the most common issues with HikrLink. If your issue is not listed here, contact support@hikrlink.com.
Sign-in errors ("invalid request data" or "user not found")
- "Invalid request data" usually means the email or password field contains extra whitespace or an unsupported character. Retype your credentials manually rather than pasting, and confirm caps-lock is off.
- "User not found" means no account exists for that email address. Check whether you signed up with a different email (e.g. personal vs work address), or create a new account.
- If the error persists across browsers, clear cookies for
hikrl.inkand try again in a private window. - If you recently changed your email address and can't sign in with either the old or the new one, email support@hikrlink.com from either address so we can match the account.
I am not receiving the verification email
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Confirm you entered the correct email address during sign-up.
- If you use a custom domain email address, confirm it is configured to receive external mail.
- Request a new verification email from the sign-in page using the Resend verification link.
My bio page won't save
- Each bio-page link needs a valid destination URL starting with
http://orhttps://. Partial URLs (e.g.mysite.com) are rejected. - Button labels must be non-empty and under 60 characters.
- If you are on the free Starter plan and approaching your monthly link limit, new buttons may fail to save. Check Settings → Usage and upgrade or wait for the next billing cycle.
- Browser extensions that block form submissions (privacy or security plugins) can silently interfere with saves. Try again in a private window with extensions disabled.
- If you see a generic "could not save" error, reload the page — your session token may have expired.
A team member accepted the invite but can't see the dashboard
- Ask them to sign out completely and sign back in. New permissions are granted at next sign-in.
- Confirm in Settings → Team that their status shows Active, not Pending. If still pending, the invite email link was opened but the account wasn't created — ask them to resend or re-invite.
- Confirm their role is not set to Viewer if they are expecting to create links — Viewers have read-only access.
- If they still see an empty dashboard after signing in, have them hard-refresh (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) to clear any cached empty-state view.
My custom domain is not verifying
- Confirm you added a CNAME record — not an A record.
- Confirm the CNAME value was copied exactly from your HikrLink dashboard — no extra spaces or characters.
- If you are using Cloudflare, set the proxy to DNS only (grey cloud icon), not proxied (orange cloud), during verification.
- Wait at least 30 minutes after adding the DNS record. Most providers propagate within an hour — up to 24 hours is normal.
My QR code is not scanning
- The QR code may have insufficient contrast. Ensure the foreground color is dark on a light background.
- The quiet zone (white border) must be at least 4 modules wide. If you cropped it too close, regenerate with a larger margin.
- Very small printed QR codes (under 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm) may not scan reliably on older cameras. Minimum recommended size is 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm.
- If you added a logo, ensure it covers no more than 30% of the code area.
My link is redirecting to the wrong page
Open the link in your dashboard and check the destination URL. Confirm there are no extra characters or spaces. If you recently changed the destination and it still redirects to the old URL, clear your browser cache — 301 redirects are cached by browsers. Test in an incognito window to confirm the update is live.
My analytics show zero clicks
- Confirm the link is published and not paused or expired.
- Click the link yourself from a different device to verify it redirects correctly.
- Check the redirect type is not 301 with a browser cache conflict — switch to 302 for testing.
- Allow 30–60 seconds after clicking before checking. Analytics update in near real-time.
UTM parameters are not showing up in Google Analytics 4
HikrLink preserves UTM parameters through the redirect, so if they are missing in GA4 the problem is almost always upstream of HikrLink or inside GA4 itself:
- Open the short link in a private window and inspect the final destination URL. Confirm that
utm_source,utm_medium, andutm_campaignare all present on the URL that loads. If they are missing here, the UTMs weren't added when the link was minted — open the link in your HikrLink dashboard and re-check the UTM Builder section. - If UTMs are present on the destination URL but still missing in GA4, check whether your GA4 property has referral exclusions configured for your own domain. Self-referral can overwrite UTM attribution with
(direct) / (none). - Confirm that your GA4 property is receiving traffic at all (look in Reports → Realtime). If no traffic is arriving, the issue is your GA4 tag, not the UTMs.
- Allow up to 24 hours for UTMs to appear in standard reports. Realtime shows them immediately; Acquisition and Traffic Acquisition reports are delayed.
- Review the UTM parameters doc to confirm your naming is consistent —
Facebookandfacebookare treated as separate sources by GA4.
