Connect HikrLink to Claude

Shorten a link, rename it, or ask which campaign is winning, without leaving the conversation. HikrLink runs a remote MCP server, so Claude works with your account directly.

What you can ask for

Once connected, Claude is working with your real account: your links, your click data, your plan. Things people actually ask it:

  • "Shorten this and call it spring-sale."
  • "Point spring-sale at the new landing page instead."
  • "Which of my links got the most clicks last month?"
  • "Is the back-half black-friday still free?"
  • "How many links do I have left on my plan this month?"
It canIt cannot
Create a short link, with a title and an expiry dateChange your plan or your billing
Change a link's destination, title, expiry or back-halfSign in as you anywhere else
Check whether a custom back-half is freeSee or touch another account's links
List and search your links with their click countsRead your password or payment details
Read per-link and account-wide analyticsEdit your bio pages
Report your plan, usage and remaining allowanceDelete anything, unless you grant that separately
It respects your plan. A link Claude creates counts towards your monthly allowance like any other, and analytics reach back only as far as your plan's retention. If you hit a limit, Claude is told which one, so it can tell you rather than quietly failing.

Before you start

  • A HikrLink account on any plan, including the free Starter plan.
  • A Claude account. Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts can have one custom connector.
  • On Team or Enterprise, an Owner has to add the connector to the organisation before anyone can connect. Members cannot add one themselves.
  • Use claude.ai in a browser, or Claude Desktop. Adding connectors on mobile is still in beta.

Add the connector

The URL to paste is:

https://api.hikrl.ink/mcp

On Free, Pro or Max

  1. In claude.ai, go to Customize then Connectors, or open claude.ai/customize/connectors directly.
  2. Click the + button next to Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it HikrLink and paste https://api.hikrl.ink/mcp as the remote MCP server URL.
  4. Leave the OAuth client fields empty. HikrLink registers Claude on its own, so there is no client ID or secret to find.
  5. Click Add, then Connect. A HikrLink page opens asking you to approve the connection. Sign in if you are not already, read what is being requested, and choose Allow access.

On Team or Enterprise

  1. An Owner goes to Organization settings then Connectors, clicks Add, hovers Custom, selects Web, and adds the URL above.
  2. Everyone else then opens Customize then Connectors, finds HikrLink in the list, and clicks Connect to link their own account.

Each person connects their own HikrLink account, and sees exactly what they would see in the dashboard. A teammate's links appear only if your team already shares them.

Turn it on in a conversation

Adding a connector does not switch it on. In a chat, click the + button at the bottom left (or type /), hover Connectors, and toggle HikrLink on.

This is the usual reason it "doesn't work". The connector is added, the account is linked, and Claude still says it cannot see your links, because the toggle is off for that conversation.

What you are approving

The approval screen lists exactly what the connection may do. These are the permissions HikrLink asks for, in the words you will see on it:

PermissionWhat it allows
See your short linksList and search your links, with click counts and status
Create and edit short linksMake a new link, or change a destination, title, expiry or back-half
Read your link analyticsPer-link and account-wide clicks, trends and top links
See your plan and usageYour plan, what you have used, what is left
See your link-in-bio pagesThe list of your bio pages
Delete short links and their click historyNot requested by default. Only granted if a client asks for it and you approve it

Deleting is deliberately kept separate. It cannot be undone and it takes the link's click history with it, so it is left out of the default request, and even when granted Claude has to name the exact link and confirm before anything goes.

Disconnecting

Remove the connector in Claude, under Customize then Connectors. Access stops there and then: HikrLink issues short-lived tokens that expire within ten minutes, and a removed connection cannot renew them.

If it does not work

What you seeWhat it usually is
Claude has no HikrLink toolsThe connector is off for this conversation. Turn it on from the + menu under Connectors.
"Authorization with the MCP server failed"The URL is wrong. It must be https://api.hikrl.ink/mcp, including /mcp, with no trailing slash and nothing redirecting to it.
No Add custom connector optionYou are on Team or Enterprise, where only an Owner can add one.
Claude reports a plan limitThat is your HikrLink plan, not the connector. Compare plans, or ask it what you have left.
It says a back-half is takenSomeone already has it. Ask Claude to check availability and it will suggest free alternatives.

Other AI assistants

HikrLink implements the open Model Context Protocol, so the same URL works in any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth. In ChatGPT that means turning developer mode on under Settings then Security and login, then adding the server from the Plugins page. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin has to enable developer mode first.

A note for ChatGPT users. HikrLink's tools work in ordinary conversations. They are not picked up by deep research or company knowledge, which only use servers exposing tools literally named search and fetch.

Frequently asked questions

Does connecting HikrLink to Claude cost anything?

No. The connector is included on every HikrLink plan, including the free Starter plan. Your usual plan limits still apply, so a link created by Claude counts towards your monthly allowance exactly like one you create yourself.

Which Claude plans support custom connectors?

Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an Owner has to add the connector to the organisation first, after which each member connects their own HikrLink account.

Can Claude delete my links?

Only if you grant the delete permission, which is not included by default, and only after it asks you to confirm the specific link. Deleting a link is permanent and destroys its click history.

How do I disconnect HikrLink from Claude?

Remove the connector in Claude under Customize then Connectors. Access stops immediately, because HikrLink issues short-lived tokens that expire ten minutes after the connection is removed.
